The West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce needed some help with their website. Their old website design was not mobile-friendly, difficult to navigate, and the overall look was getting stale. Additionally, the content had not been updated for some time, and support from the previous web developer was unavailable.
Future Access met with staff from the Chamber to understand their current situation, gather information about their needs, and get a sense of the redesign’s goals. A formal proposal was presented to the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors; they accepted, and a development plan was initiated.
The new website is now very attractive and uses a responsive, mobile-friendly design that can be viewed easily on devices of all sizes. It features a simple navigation toolbar that makes it easy to access information about membership, advocacy issues, and contact information. The entire site is now built on the WordPress CMS platform, allowing Chamber staff to edit, add, or update information easily from any computer. All these updates can be made without the need to purchase or install proprietary software. The website also features integrated, WordPress plugin modules for the calendar of events, and a fully customized membership directory.
The online membership directory is searchable by category, by keyword, or alphabetically. Each member receives a dedicated profile page with all of their contact information, a link to their website, and a full description to outline their products and services. For additional exposure, members can pay to advertise on the large homepage banner, or on the Sponsors bar that appears on the footer of every page of the website. These ad spaces provide a new revenue stream for the Chamber.
Because of some negative past experiences during a web development project, the Chamber was somewhat anxious about engaging with a new web design company for this website rebuild. However, after working with the Future Access web development team, here is what they had to say:
